** Shares of cryptocurrency and blockchain-related companies decline premarket as bitcoin prices fall

** “Crypto euphoria is so highly entwined with broad investor enthusiasm, that when it’s dented there is nowhere to hide, with coins and tokens falling in tandem,” says Susannah Streeter, head of money and markets at Hargreaves Lansdown

** Sentiment took a hit after President Donald Trump said on Thursday that 25% duties on imports from Canada and Mexico will come into effect on March 4

** He also said goods from China will be subject to an additional 10% duty

** Bitcoin BTCUSD, the world’s biggest cryptocurrency, slides 4.8% at $80,271, off more than 26% from its all-time high of $109,071.89 hit more than a month ago

** Ether (ETH=) tumbles 6.2% to $2139.2

** Crypto exchange Coinbase Global COIN falls 2.4%, while Blockchain farm operator Bitfarms BITF down 1.8%

** Crypto miners: Riot Platforms RIOT MARA Holdings MARA, Hut 8 HUT, and Bit Digital BTBT down more than 3% each

** Strategy MSTR, the biggest corporate holder of bitcoin and formerly known as MicroStrategy, declines 2.5%

** ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF BITO falls 3.8%, while iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF IBIT slides 3.9%
