Itron to acquire Miami-based Urbint in $325M deal to expand AI-powered solutions

Itron to acquire Miami-based Urbint in 5M deal to expand AI-powered solutions

Miami-based Urbint, a company specializing in AI-driven risk management in storm response, is being acquired by Itron, a publicly traded smart energy and water solutions firm based in Liberty Lake, Washington. The $325 million transaction is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2025.

Urbint, founded in 2015, allows utilities to manage disaster response in real-time, from coordinating crew resources and logistics to controlling emergency budgets. Urbint’s AI-powered software delivers a picture of risk in advance, predicting threats to workers  and critical infrastructure, allowing safer and faster power restoration. Urbint raised $35 million a year ago, and earlier this year the startup acquired StormImpact of Columbus, Ohio.

Corey Capasso, Urbint’s  founder and CEO, said joining Itron, the industry leader in technology for utilities,  aligns with Urbint’s mission of building resilience.

“Itron has built a legacy of providing mission critical solutions to utilities which directly aligns with Urbint’s operational resilience solutions that protect the public, workers, assets, and the environment. As utilities manage the collision of aging infrastructure and extreme weather, Urbint’s solutions help restore power faster after major weather events, prevent serious injuries and fatalities to workers, and protect underground assets from third party damages that cause gas leaks and power outages,” Capasso said in a statement.

Itron’s leadership highlighted the significance of the acquisition, stating that Urbint’s AI-driven operational resilience solutions will help customers address some of the most pressing challenges facing the industry.

“Urbint’s AI-powered operational resilience solutions enhance Itron’s existing offerings. We are thrilled to welcome the Urbint team to the organization,” said Itron President and CEO Tom Deitrich.
